Bar Selēnē

44.360 CHF

Bar cabinet equipped inside with a backlit shelffor storing fine bottles, a pull-out top for preparingdrinks and cocktails, and two drawers.

Furniture made of fossilized wood from oaks that accidentally fell thousands of years ago and were preserved hidden underground until the time of our discovery. Carbon-14 results confirm that the plants we use to make our work fell 2,000 to 8,000 years ago. The SELĒNĒ’s door and interior drawer fronts are hand-painted with the egg tempera technique fromthe early Renaissance, which uses egg yolks, casein or gum arabic, and natural powdered pigments, skillfully blended. It must be done by skilled hands, taking their time to allow the brush strokes to dry, preparing small amounts of color from time to time. Egg tempera is one of the oldest and most effectivemethods of preparing colors for painting, the technique of which has been handed down to us from the“Book of Art” by the painter and writer Cennino Cennini (1370-1440). The central disk can be made in three variations: three-dimensional fossil oak mosaic (HMO), solid fossiloak disk (HWO) and horizontal section of a fossil oak log. (HLO). In the latter version, all the growth ringsof the plant are thus visible, a reminder of the passage of an ancient time. The cracks in the disk are filledwith clear resin. A soft LED light on the back of the disk gently illuminates the door painting and creates the effect of alunar eclipse. The material rich in history, craftsmanship and precious details make this storage unit apiece of furniture that is impeccable in appearance and adaptable to any setting. Each piece of furnitureis unique, made with care and precision craftsmanship. We look for what nature has preserved for thousands of years to give it a new life, without cuttingdown new trees.
